15 In those days Peter stood up among (A)the brothers (the company of persons was in all about 120) and said, 16 “Brothers, (B)the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David concerning Judas, (C)who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus. 17 For (D)he was numbered among us and was allotted his share in (E)this ministry.” 18 (Now this man (F)acquired a field with (G)the reward of his wickedness, and falling headlong[a] he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out. 19 And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the field was called (H)in their own language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.) 20 “For it is written in the Book of Psalms,

(I)“‘May his camp become desolate,
    and let there be no one to dwell in it’;

and

(J)“‘Let another take his office.’

21 So one of the men who have accompanied us during (K)all the time that the Lord Jesus (L)went in and out among us, 22 (M)beginning from the baptism of John until the day when (N)he was taken up from us—one of these men must become with us (O)a witness to his resurrection.” 23 And they put forward two, Joseph called (P)Barsabbas, who was also called (Q)Justus, and (R)Matthias. 24 And (S)they prayed and said, “You, Lord, (T)who know the hearts of all, show which one of these two you have chosen 25 to take the place in (U)this ministry and (V)apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place.” 26 And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

The Priests' Garments

28 “Then bring near to you (A)Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the people of Israel, to serve me as priests—Aaron and Aaron's sons, (B)Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. (C)And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty. You shall speak to all the (D)skillful, whom I have filled with a spirit of skill, that they make Aaron's garments to consecrate him for my priesthood. These are the garments that they shall make: a (E)breastpiece, an (F)ephod, (G)a robe, (H)a coat of checker work, (I)a turban, and (J)a sash. They shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and his sons to serve me as priests.

29 (A)So Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel in the breastpiece of judgment on his heart, when he goes into the Holy Place, to bring them to regular (B)remembrance before the Lord. 30 And in the breastpiece of judgment (C)you shall put the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be on Aaron's heart, when he goes in before the Lord. Thus Aaron shall bear the judgment of the people of Israel on his heart before the Lord regularly.

God Shall Scatter His Enemies

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. A Song.

68 (A)God shall arise, his enemies shall be (B)scattered;
    and those who hate him shall flee before him!
As (C)smoke is driven away, so you shall drive them away;
    (D)as wax melts before fire,
    so the wicked shall perish before God!
But (E)the righteous shall be glad;
    they shall exult before God;
    they shall be jubilant with joy!

Sing to God, (F)sing praises to his name;
    (G)lift up a song to him who (H)rides through (I)the deserts;
his name is (J)the Lord;
    exult before him!
(K)Father of the fatherless and (L)protector of widows
    is God in his holy habitation.
God (M)settles the solitary in a home;
    he (N)leads out the prisoners to prosperity,
    but (O)the rebellious dwell in (P)a parched land.

O God, when you (Q)went out before your people,
    (R)when you marched through (S)the wilderness, Selah
(T)the earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain,
    before God, the One of Sinai,
    before God,[a] the God of Israel.
(U)Rain in abundance, O God, you shed abroad;
    you restored your inheritance as it languished;
10 your flock[b] found a dwelling in it;
    in your goodness, O God, you (V)provided for the needy.

11 The Lord gives (W)the word;
    (X)the women who announce the news are a great host:
12     (Y)“The kings of the armies—they flee, they flee!”
The women at home (Z)divide the spoil—
13     though you men lie among (AA)the sheepfolds—
the wings of a dove covered with silver,
    its pinions with shimmering gold.
14 When the Almighty scatters kings there,
    let snow fall on (AB)Zalmon.

15 O mountain of God, mountain of Bashan;
    O many-peaked[c] mountain, mountain of Bashan!
16 Why do you look with hatred, O many-peaked mountain,
    at the mount that God (AC)desired for his abode,
    yes, where the Lord will dwell forever?
17 (AD)The chariots of God are twice ten thousand,
    thousands upon thousands;
    the Lord is among them; Sinai is now in the sanctuary.
18 (AE)You ascended on high,
    (AF)leading a host of captives in your train
    and (AG)receiving gifts among men,
even among (AH)the rebellious, (AI)that the Lord God may dwell there.

19 Blessed be the Lord,
    who daily (AJ)bears us up;
    God is our salvation. Selah
20 Our God is a God of salvation,
    (AK)and to God, the Lord, belong deliverances from death.

Testimony Concerning the Son of God

This is he who came (A)by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And (B)the Spirit is the one who testifies, because (C)the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. (D)If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God (E)that he has borne concerning his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God (F)has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God (G)has made him a liar, (H)because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. 11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us (I)eternal life, and (J)this life is in his Son. 12 (K)Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

That You May Know

13 I write (L)these things to you who (M)believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 And this is (N)the confidence that we have toward him, that (O)if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

11 And I am no longer in the world, but (A)they are in the world, and (B)I am coming to you. (C)Holy Father, (D)keep them in your name, (E)which you have given me, (F)that they may be one, (G)even as we are one. 12 (H)While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have (I)guarded them, and (J)not one of them has been lost except (K)the son of destruction, (L)that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now (M)I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have (N)my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 (O)I have given them your word, and (P)the world has hated them (Q)because they are not of the world, (R)just as I am not of the world. 15 I (S)do not ask that you (T)take them out of the world, but that you (U)keep them from (V)the evil one.[a] 16 (W)They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 (X)Sanctify them[b] in the truth; (Y)your word is truth. 18 (Z)As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19 And (AA)for their sake (AB)I consecrate myself,[c] that they also (AC)may be sanctified[d] in truth.
